Keep Watching

Keep watching this site for a date on the summer neighborhood watch meeting. Tentative plans are to have it outside in the neighborhood, possibly at Susan's again. I think everyone had a good time last year. Maybe we will have hot dogs again? :)

As for as I know, things have been quiet in the neighborhood over the past several weeks. Remember, if you are going on vacation, tell one of your neighbors you are going to be gone. Also, you can take advantage of the program the police offer where they will come by and check on your house for you. One of the officers suggested getting a timer for your lights when you are going to be gone, that way it looks like someone is still there. And, leave a radio playing. They don't take that much electricity, and if someone broke in and heard it, they might think someone was there and leave. Just some suggestions.

Stay safe!

Has anyone considered asking the city about putting some play equipment at the "park" at the end of Sassafras. It would give the kids in the neighborhood some place to play without having to leave the neighborhood.

I think this would be a great idea.If there is enough support for this I would be more than happy to take the ball and run with it. I know there are a few who have talked about the idea.

I called once and suggested this. It seems that somewhere along the line I was told that area is in a flood plain, so not much could be put there. Indeed, the area does flood, but it seems like that could be fixed.

At the very least, why can't the city level that area out and keep it mowed nice. It could be a great place to play baseball?

that is a great idea.
do you think we could get enough big swings for adults, too?
consider that we would likely have visitors from outside the subdivision playing here, too...

Cindy,
That is a very good point. I thought for a while about pushing the city more, but right now we have a nice little quiet neighborhood most of the time). I wouldn't want something so elaborate down there that it drew too large of a crowd.

Please do your homework before making judgements on who or who will not be using any park that would be put in.

I hope all the dog lovers in the neighborhood are happy! The fireman house is going up for sale.

There wouldn't have to be anything elaborate. Something like what the fruit bowl has would be nice, a couple swings, and a slide/climbing area. If not play equipment, then a baseball area like what Airport park has would be nice too.
